Will LunariaOS be Open-Source?
Yes, we are planning to release LunariaOS for free and Open Source for everyone. Our GitHub Organisation is available here. Please keep in mind that donating to us can speed up the development process and release LunariaOS faster!
What is LunariaOS?
LunariaOS is a new Linux distribution built on Debian, created by the Dimension Team. It brings a brand new, unique design with beautifully crafted apps and lively animations across the whole system, all made with user experience in mind.
Under the hood, it’s built to stay smooth and fast while running efficiently on minimal RAM and CPU.
LunariaOS is a community designed Operating System, this means that no big company is working on it. Only a couple of developers and designers determined to create a next generation OS experience that makes you see more possibilities.
Is LunariaOS a real operating system?
Absolutely! LunariaOS has been in active development since day one. Every month we put together Developer Builds to catch bugs and report them, so the system keeps getting better. If you’d like to see LunariaOS run on actual hardware, follow our Social Medias like TikTok (@lunariaos, @maksieku.tech) or our Discord Server, where we’re planning to openly show our development.
When will LunariaOS be released?
We’re still quite far from the first release, so there’s no release date yet, not even for us. You can most likely expect news around early 2027 for announcing a Developer Beta. To hear it first, join our Discord server.
Can I run Windows apps on LunariaOS?
Yes. LunariaOS comes with Wine built in, so you can run Windows apps out of the box.
Will LunariaOS run well on my PC?
LunariaOS is built to stay smooth while running efficiently on minimal RAM and CPU, for fast and reliable performance.
Are the apps and animations on this website real?
The previews on this website are simulated to show the design of LunariaOS while it is still in development.
As we’re trying our best to recreate the animations from the actual system, small details may be different from the actual experience.
Who is making LunariaOS?
LunariaOS is made by the Dimension Team, a small group of developers and designers based in Poland, best known for creating AmeOS. Meet the team.
Where is LunariaOS from?
LunariaOS comes from Poland, where its creator and project manager, Maksieku, is based. That’s why you’ll spot plenty of nods to the Polish community along the way.
How can I support the project?
